Your 3 Day Train Get-a-Way

Fly to Denver

​

Take light rail from airport to your downtown hotel​

​

Board the California Zephyr at 8:00am

​

As train heads west, you'll move to the Observation Car

to experience the 'Big 10 Curve' 

​

Train climbs to 9,000 ft and then enters the Moffat Tunnel

     not just any tunnel ... 

         6.5 miles in length ....  

         3rd longest railroad tunnel in U.S.

​         opened 1929

​

After your eyes transition to sunlight ...

  the majestic Rocky Mountains appear before you!

​

The train then heads over the Continental Divide 

   to meet the Colorado River on the other side

​

Train follow the Colorado River as it meanders southwest ...  

  (caution: a kayakers tradition:  mooning passengers)

​

At Glenwood Springs, both the Colorado River

    and the train heads west to Grand Junction

      Marvel at the red rocks and red canyons

​

   (note: you'll cross I-70 and be thankful you are not 

       driving so you can fully concentrate on the scenery)

​

At Grand Junction ...

       you'll continue to see breathtaking scenery.

​

As the train marches toward Salt Lake City,

       you'll experience an amazing western sunset!

​

When the train reaches Salt Lake City around 11pm,

    you'll have 

     experienced 14 hours of breath taking scenery,

     took time time to ponder 'life'

     and enjoyed interesting conversations with fellow

        train travelers.

Walk a few blocks to your hotel

    fall asleep wonderfully tired 

​

Fly home.
