Station Safety Spring 2025
Rail Fans Geneva Chapter believes it is time for changes at Geneva's Metra Station
Rail Fan #1 Recommendations
Post appropriate signage pertaining to train arrival
on Platform 1 and Platform 2
Provide signage stating track arrival is announced over
loudspeaker and put on monitor about 7 minutes before
scheduled train arrival. Be present at this time to make
way to Platform 2 if needed
Provide appropriate signage regarding arrival platform
to passengers waiting in parking lot
Create a station and surrounding area pleasing and inviting
Provide a shelter within 20 feet of main station
Keep station and shelters open 5:00am to 6pm 7 days a week
Provide outdoor seating within 5 feet of station
 Institute an ‘Ambassador' program
These volunteers would help new and occasional passengers,
help reduce track anxiety, and address a safety issue informing
late arriving passengers to quickly walk to Platform 2 if needed
Create Rail Fan Viewing Area at current shelter on Platform 1
on weekends as Metra’s thank you to Geneva
