"There were two lively kids on board who kept the whole train in turmoil, and their tall father did not spank them,"      Todd family relative

Robert saw his first train before he was 5. He rode trains frequently during his life and especially as  CEO of Pullman Co. - the largest manufacture of railroad cars.

Robert flunked Harvard's entrance exam resulting in one year in a New Hampshire preparatory school. That year along with 4 years at Harvard transformed him into a "Yankee".  He studied at Harvard at the same time his father served as President.

Robert interrupted his studies to accompany his father, now President-Elect, to Washington D.C.
